Common questions
What is ChoreTracking?
ChoreTracking at choretracking.com is a chore and mental-load tracker for couples and households, operated by Fireborne XIII Foundry LLC. Record who did each task and its duration, then compare logged minutes. It supports a conversation about workload; it does not independently decide what is fair.
Is ChoreTracking free?
Free local mode works on one browser or device without an account, with up to 3 person labels, 5 voice submissions per day, 150 voice submissions in total, and 10 combined Type and Quick entries per day. Couple costs US$6.99 per month; Group costs US$12.99 per month.
Do both partners need accounts?
No account is needed to record both people's work on one device in free local mode. Shared cloud access requires separate accounts and a paid household: Couple supports 2 account logins and 3 person labels; Group supports 10 account logins and 10 labels.
How is the balance calculated?
ChoreTracking adds the minutes recorded for each person within the selected period. For example, 60 minutes and 30 minutes make 90 logged minutes, with shares of about 67% and 33%. These are self-reported time totals, not a measure of effort, care quality or every unrecorded responsibility.
Does ChoreTracking use points, allowances or automatic chore assignments?
No. ChoreTracking compares self-reported minutes, not reward points, allowance payments or a zero-sum score. It does not automatically assign or rotate chores, send chore reminders, or detect work that nobody records. Your household agrees on responsibilities and records the work.
How does ChoreTracking compare with a shared spreadsheet?
Both can record household work and compare time. A spreadsheet lets you design your own columns and formulas. ChoreTracking provides voice, quick presets and typed logging, built-in views of recorded minutes, and CSV export. Free tracking is local to one device; sharing across separate accounts requires a paid Couple or Group household.
Is voice transcription offline?
No. Voice audio is sent through our servers to an OpenAI transcription model. We do not store the audio after the request completes. Free work records stay in your browser; voice processing and abuse-prevention requests still use the network. Recordings are limited to 60 seconds.
Can I export or delete my data?
You can export work logs as CSV. Signed-in users can export account and household data as JSON and request account deletion from You. Deletion has a 7-day cooling-off period; shared household records may remain for other members as described in the Privacy Policy.
How do I cancel a paid plan?
The household owner can open Manage billing from You and cancel through Stripe. Monthly subscriptions renew until canceled. Access continues until the end of the current billing period; statutory consumer rights still apply.
